Hi, I'm Kris Black, a visual designer and cartoonist.

I started writeDRAWcode to provide myself with a little space to write about projects I'm working on. My projects involve a little bit of writing, drawing, and coding—hence the name of this website.

I’m very open to the fact that being a "creative" isn't all inspiration and magic. For me, it’s a lot of self-doubt and trying to find an hour of free time between work, family, exercising, and obligations.

A Few Random Facts...

• I wrote two books about Squarespace.

• Driven Creatively Mad is my podcast for interviewing other creators about their biggest fails and their hardest-won wins. It’s less about "productivity hacks" and more about the honest, messy journey of making art. This podcast is currently on hiatus, but may resume at a future date.

• I live in Columbia, SC, with my wife Stacey and our cat, Dexter. We have two, lovely kids together, both are grown and making the world a better place.

• My wife is a professional artist creating miniature watercolor and pen & ink paintings—maybe you’ve heard of her?

• I love to collect old comics, particularly Spider-man.
