Colophon
A colophon is a page or section (typically in a footer) of a site that describes how the site is made, with what tools, supporting what technologies, and often published on personal sites at a top-level/colophon page.

This site—when created in March 2025—was a huge deal for me. My go-to site builder has always been Squarespace since 2004. Heck, I even wrote a couple of books about Squarespace. However, when I started writeDRAWcode_, I used something different— WordPress.
WordPress felt like the right solution for serious blogging. I was never happy with WordPress—too much maintenance is needed for plugins and themes. So I switched this site to another CMS, but it wasn't Squarespace. I actually switched to Ghost.
For those who are curious, below is what I use to create this website and all my other websites.
Web Resources
- Fastmail (affiliate link) for email
- Cloudflare for managing and registering domain names
- Ghost for powering this website
- Magic Pages for hosting this website
- Kyoto theme with modifications to fit my style aesthetic
- Squarespace for powering all my other websites
Software & Apps
- Affinity Suite is used to process any images and graphics. I even use Affinity software to make the writeDRAWcode_ logo and logomark.
FYI - I stopped using Adobe Creative Suite in 2023. - Fonts on writeDRAWcode.com are set to use your device's default system font, falling back to Helvetica Neue and other sans-serif fonts.
- Nova by Panic to write custom code for styling Squarespace sites beyond what is possible with their built-in design features. I use another app, CodeKit, to compile my CSS for easy copy-and-paste into the Squarespace Custom Code area.
- Ulysses for writing blog posts.
- I have a subscription to SetApp which gives me access to a whole suite of apps on the Mac. I like evaluating new apps to see if I can streamline my productivity or enhance my workflows.
